Pilates is
a highly-evolved movement therapy based on the principles of dance, yoga,
reflexology, weight training and other healing and physical development
practices. It provides strength, flexibility, and stamina. Pilates engages
postural and supporting muscles not often used in typical sports and
workouts. It is an ideal way for men and women to get into better shape or
to build strength, and it can serve as a gentle path to return to basic
daily activities after injury or illness. Pilates is a great form of
exercise for pre- and post-natal mothers and for people suffering from low
back pain, osteoarthritis, or other chronic conditions.
